Reclaim Your Independence this July
Here we are, July, the hottest month of the year.
As a native-born Californian, warm weather is pretty normal here. However, summers in Los Angeles, unless you live near the beach, can be scorching, 90 in the shade, fry an egg on the sidewalk, kind of hot.
Thankfully, 2021 has been mild, though summer is only just beginning.
Looking back, July 4th is the historic date when 13 American colonies in 1776 declared independence from the British Monarchy. It is the day Americans celebrate the birth of our Nation. It represents all that we stand for, our personal freedom, rights, and independence… you know, where all men (and women), no matter race, creed, or religion are created equal. It is what makes me proud to be an American.
This July 4th was extra special, it marked the first holiday where Americans could shed their masks if fully vaccinated. Gone is the 6-feet rule. After 18 months of somewhat self-isolation from the Covid-19 monster and rolling out vaccinations, we finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. Excited are those who are ready to “burn the mask”.
Whatever your views are on the global pandemic that started back in early 2020, and continues to mutate on, we can all agree it has rocked our lives in one way or another.
As you plan your entry back into society, however it looks, do it with respect and non-judgment of others. We all have our level of comfort as to where we are with this pandemic. I know, some of you are excited to go out sans mask. Others are apprehensive and feel comfortable keeping theirs on. Either way, please know, I am with you and I understand.
