Autumn Equinox and the Lower Chakras
September 22, 2020, dates Autumn Equinox / September Equinox.
Equinox is the Latin word for “equal” and “night”. Autumn Equinox is the astronomical start of the fall season in the Northern hemisphere. On the equinox, day and night are roughly equal in length.
Autumn Equinox is a delicate balance of sunlight passing into a new season. Autumn foliage turns color due to the changes in the amount of daylight and photosynthesis taking place. Trees snapping and crackling indicate dry weather.
As the years go by, I find myself appreciating Autumn. Cooler days. The trees shed themselves of their unwanted leaves. The last warm breeze of summer rolls through as nature shuts down and goes into a reserve mode. With the change of season, our energy changes and vibrates to match it. Nature and life slow down. Autumn energy pulls us within. It sparks feelings of warmth, peace, safety, security, grounding with the earth; and with our inner spirit.
There are ways to ease into the changes of daylight.
We focus on balancing and strengthening the lower chakras (root, sacral and solar plexus). The lower chakras are responsible for self-image, physical and emotional identity, and our relationship with the physical world. It satisfies our primal need to survive and how safe we feel in this world. As the temperatures drop and leaves fall, the season symbolizes the beauty of letting go of what no longer serves us, such as egos, patterns of greed, and the difference of opinions. Instead, we spotlight on feelings of gratitude, abundance, maturity, wealth, and honoring our family and ancestors.
We seek harmony in feeling grounded and safe; while inspired with self-love.
Here are a few ways to welcome the change in seasons:
Colors of the Season – Surround yourself with hues that correspond to the root, sacral, and solar plexus chakras. Warm earthy tones, that are fiery and adventurous, yet calming and comforting.
