9 Ways to Handle Uncertain Times

The world is a-changing

As Ferris Bueller once said, “Life moves pretty fast.  If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”  Remember those days? And then, just like that, we have more time on our hands than we know what to do with. The world is moving at a slower pace, as we are forced to stay in one place longer. Here is our chance to stop and look around.  For many, these uncertain times can leave a person feeling nervous, a little desperate, and out of control of one’s own destiny.  We have to approach these times in our own way.  I want to share some ideas or ways to handle uncertain times that will help you get through this unpredictable season.

Read a good book

There are no excuses.  We no longer need to take a trip to Barnes & Noble’s (unless you want to).  There are free apps available to read books online. You can also pay a small monthly fee and have access to a library of great books.  I subscribe to Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited.  No commitment.  If my selection is not resonating with me, I just return it for something else. Not into reading?  Try an audiobook.  Sink into your favorite recliner and enjoy.

Keep crystals nearby

The best crystals for these uncertain times are Turquoise, Smoky Quartz, and Amazonite. This is one of the remarkable ways to handle uncertain times. Turquoise is a great stone for those feeling down by providing one with a spiritual hug.  It soothes the inner storm and instills a peaceful calm reminiscent of the tranquil blue oceans.  Smoky Quartz helps to lift depression and grounds one back to the earth with its gentle brown hues.  It neutralizes negativity and helps one find the drive and determination that sometimes gets lost in our daily lives.  Amazonite will help one connect with their truest intentions, freeing the soul from outside events that can throw one off-course.  It brings order to chaos with its gentle, loving vibrations.

Focus on the present and future and stop reliving the past

Try meditating.  It will help you get out of your own way.  There are a ton of great guided meditations on YouTube.  Guided meditation helps to stop the mind chatter and guides thoughts in a positive direction. Did I mention? … it’s free.

Take a break from social media or any kind of media for that matter

Feed your mind with information of your choice rather than having someone choose for you.  We live in a world where the news tends to sensationalize situations to create panic and a rise in how we feel.  Be in control of your own thoughts.

Try growing some plants

Ways to Handle Uncertain TimesThey react to love, water, and sunlight.  Plants breathe in carbon dioxide and breathe out oxygen through photosynthesis. They provide shelter for insects, birds, and animals.  Most succulents are easy to grow and can propagate from a single leaf. No green thumb required. Watching a plant grow can be rewarding and is one of the best ways to handle uncertain times.  It uplifts your mood and adds beauty to your surroundings.  Warning… they can be addicting.

Move your body for at least 30 minutes a day.

Dance, lift weights, or stretch.  It is a fact moving your body elevates the mood.  For those of you dog owners, grab that leash and go for a walk with your dog.  They will appreciate it and you get to be outside, absorbing vitamin D.

The best way to jump-start your day

Take a cold shower.  It will awaken and energize you. If you wake up feeling like a zombie, immerse yourself in cold water; it will knock that sluggish feeling right out of you.  On the flip side, if you’re in need of a warm hug at night, take a nice hot bath.  Throw some rose quartz in the water to infuse it with loving energy.  It will prepare you for a comforting night’s sleep.

Create some art

Looking for some ideas or ways to handle uncertain times?  I have many.  Click on this link to be transported to my YouTube channel where I share different DIY’s you can do at home.  I am an ART pusher… Once you get going, I promise you will feel better.  I am going through my home repainting my furniture. Why buy something new when you can upcycle what you have.  And enjoy the gratification of making it yourself, rather than assembling something from Ikea.  Look around your home, I know there are things that could use a facelift.

Organize your living space

Try starting with the kitchen pantry.  Clean it out and start alphabetizing and stacking those cans and boxes by shape and size.  Throw out anything that has expired. If your surroundings are organized, you will feel in control of your domain.

These are a few of the things I do to entertain myself, to learn, to grow.  Remember, life is not happening to us, it’s happening for us.  (I just heard that the other day… and I love it).  Challenging situations can be looked at in so many different angles.  It is your choice, whichever view you take.
